Happy St Patrick’s Day
May you have all the happiness
and luck that life can hold,
and at the end of all your rainbows
may you find a pot of gold.
With love & Best Wishes

Well our St Patrick’s day did not start with the luck of the Irish that’s for sure, it started with a tap on the door. A neighbour calling to kindly warn us that all the cars parked in the street had been key marked over night. Sometimes one has to wonder what sort of pleasure people get out of wantonly vandalizing other folk’s property. Anyway today did eventually improve because after a brief episode of torrential rain this lunchtime we had sunshine, proper warm Spring sunshine.
Has winter finally made an exit?
We sincerely hope so because the winter’s (hopefully) last hurrah was horrendous, throwing all the bad weather it could think of at us, snow, wind, rain, hail and sleet. The fields are still very mushy and we have lakes, formerly known as puddles, ankle deep hanging around. The crows are enjoying them, they’re using them as bird baths.
March seems to be a very busy month we’ve had the first day of Meteorological Spring, St David’s Day,
Upon St David's Day Put oats and barley in the clay
St Patrick’s Day,
St Patrick's Day, the warm side of a stone turns up, and the broad-back goose begins to lay.
and we still have Mothering Sunday (in the UK), the vernal equinox, the first day of Astronomical Spring, Ostara, Lady Day and the start of British Summer Time to look forward to.
For us though the most important day of March has already been and gone, March 5th Madeline Araxie’s birthday, a special one this year, she was 21 which is apparently 63 years old in human years.
Madeline is quite a special girl her grandsire was Zafonic who was a very famous race horse in his time. He was born in 1990 and had a earnings of $663,984 his major wins were the Prix Morny 1992, the Prix de la Salamandre 1992, Dewhurst Stakes 1992 and the 2000 Guineas 1993. He broke a 45 year old course record when he won the 2000 Guineas and was also awarded the European Champion Two year old colt of the year.
She’s also the boss of everyone!
Eggsy Pony wrote about her birthday celebrations in a “for supporters” Ko-fi post if you’d like to have a little read it’s here https://ko-fi.com/post/My-girls-birthday--The-Eggsy-Pony-Diaries-C0C8J8WE3 needless to say things didn’t go quite to plan. Also needless to say Eggsy does tend to exaggerate a little.
Our other OAP, Mr Boo, who at 25 this June is in human years a septuagenarian, is also giving us cause to celebrate simply by still being with us. Last Autumn we were really concerned that he wasn’t going to make it through another winter, indeed he did have a bit of a close call before Christmas but he’s made it. In fact we’d say he’s made it through winter with flying colours and we couldn’t be happier, long may his good health continue.
On that happy note we’ll sign off, wishing you all a happy rest of March, we’ll be back with another newsletter in April,
Love from
