New Year New Newsletter
Happy New Year to you all and thank you for taking the time to read our very first newsletter.
2023 dawned bright and sunny and blissfully peaceful after the New Year’s Eve bombardment of deafening firework bangs and headache inducing flashes in the sky. It gets louder and longer every year, but, after years of trying to pacify terrified pets, we’re counting our blessings that none of our current animals seem to take a blind bit of notice. We know that’s not so for all of you and very much hope that things weren’t too bad for you.
For us New Year’s Day is spent pretty much the same as every day of the year, with the horses. Feeding, watering, poo picking, checking them over to make sure they’re all well, mixing feeds, traipsing through mud. And it is muddy now, the entrances to the fields are getting a bit poached but honestly it’s not to bad. There’s still grass for them to nibble on and no one has lost a wellington boot in the mud yet!
Do you make New Year resolutions?
With the worst of the bad weather yet to come the idea of resolving to give something up is somewhat unappealing to me so for the past few years I’ve been following Suzanna Cramton’s, who most of you will know from Twitter @ZwartblesIE, suggestion to pick a word. A word to live by for the year. I tend not to be able to find just one word eg. last year, which was rather turbulent and at times downright traumatic for us, my words were “hold fast”, you have no idea how many times I repeated them. This year it didn’t take long to choose the words, they popped straight into my head, “ clarity and focus”.
The last few years have been a bit flotsam and jetsamish with things, very much out of our control, being thrown at us left right and centre so I’m hoping that “clarity and focus” will help regain a little more control over life in general.
What word, if any, would you choose?
Signing off now, as it’s back to the horses time, thank you for reading, there will be another newsletter in about a month’s time, maybe a little sooner if anything exciting happens! It would be lovely if you’d subscribe.
May 2023 bring you happiness.
